      <trans-abstract xml:lang="en">

The article is devoted to the interpretation of death in Dino Buzzati's book "Poema a fumetti". Buzzati often explores this theme, but the specific interpretation in "Poema a fumetti" is influenced by the graphic poem genre and the use of mythological material. The story is primarily told through images, with occasional verbal commentary, which adds to the symbolic significance. In the myth of Orpheus and the poem by Dino Buzzati, death is incorporated into the thematic circle of art and love, and is related to the motifs of the border and return. Orpheus's/Orfi's willingness to embrace death in order to find Eurydice/Eura is a testament to his belief in the transcendence of non-existence and the power of art over death. In the modern history of Orpheus, death becomes a kind of sign of life, and immortality turns out to be the true death, as it denies existential choice. The hero of "Poema a fumetti" is the embodiment of life, which is characterized by free will, desire, and movement. The inhabitants of the otherworld are devoid of the desire to change, despite the fact that there is a lot of movement in their existence. This movement is illusory because there is no time. The disappearance of time is motivated by fatigue, which immobilizes a person and deprives them of hope. The inability to bring Eura back to life is related to her unwillingness to leave the world of the dead. The heroine does not believe that art can triumph over death, and although she longs for the lost time, she accepts death as the only possible way of existence. Thus, death in "Poema a fumetti" is interpreted in the thematic and motivational fields, through sign systems and the transformation of the characters' functions.
